SolidVue and Scientific Analog authors model a SPAD-to-histogram sensor in SystemVerilog
A DVCon Europe 2023 paper by SolidVue, Scientific Analog and Sungkyunkwan University authors reports a SystemVerilog/XMODEL simulation platform for a SPAD-based time-of-flight sensor. Poisson-based photon and dark-count models include detection probability and dead time, and connect 64 SPADs and analog front ends to a TDC, histogram counter and timing controller. The paper shows histogram responses under varied sensor and illumination parameters and reports approximately 4.6 minutes for a 1.5-m proximity-sensor simulation. These are system-model results; measured-silicon correlation was not demonstrated.

System-Level Simulation of a SPAD-Based Time-of-Flight Sensor in SystemVerilog — paper ↗
Full eight-page paper identifies the three author affiliations and details SPAD statistics, dead-time handling, XMODEL timing, system integration and histogram results. Figure 9 represents 4,095 measurements, not 4,095 histogram bins.
